The bay hosts a variety of aquatic life, in winter teeming with migratory Southern Right Whales mating and calving - with a viewing site literally meters from The Little Sanctuary.

With its comfortable summer climate and very mild winter climate visitors are attracted to Plettenberg Bay throughout the year The season for whale watching is from June to November peaking in August and September and schools of dolphins regularly enthral visitors with their playful and inquisitive antics in the surf.
